What is your favorite place to swim in Munich - and why?
Without a doubt: the Isar. Not only because I live nearby, but also because it offers so many possibilities: Whether it's splashing around on the banks, drifting comfortably in a floating tire or dipping your feet in the water until your webbed feet sprout - every water rat really gets their money's worth here. And afterwards, you can have a barbecue on the Flaucher or use the many public table tennis tables. You definitely won't get bored here.
However, before you go swimming in the Isar, you should find out where swimming is permitted.
Is there a swimming spot in Munich that you would describe as an insider tip?
The Poschinger Weiher in Unterföhring is no longer an insider tip among Munich residents, but on hot days it is nowhere near as crowded as the Isar or the English Garden. The small, hidden lake is easy to reach by public transport. Cycling along the Isar is even a real experience.
If you only have half a day - where do you go for a quick dip in the water?
For a bit of exercise after work, I recommend the Maria Einsiedel natural swimming pool. Here you can really burn off energy in the swimmer's pool after a day at the office. The best thing about it: your hair doesn't smell of chlorine because the water here is purified by microorganisms!
What should definitely not be missing in your swim bag?
Definitely: a good book. When I can hear the sound of the Isar in the background, it's always a short break from everyday life for me.
What does your perfect summer day at the lake look like and what's your favorite way to end it?
My perfect summer day at the lake takes me by bike from Josefa (where I treat myself to “Josefa's early bird” - the perfect breakfast for an eventful day!) to Pasing and via the Pasing city park to Gröbenzell. From there, it's only a few minutes' drive to Olchinger See. It can get really crowded in summer, but you're sure to find a cozy spot to enjoy the sunshine.
On the way back, I'm already looking forward to a cool drink and a bite to eat in the garden of the Ayinger in der Au. It's perfect for spending balmy evenings with friends. I finish off with a Kaiserschmarrn pancake. The perfect way to spend a summer's day.
