DALLMAYR: TRADITIONAL SPECIALITY HOUSE IN THE HEART OF MUNICH

[Translate to Englisch:]

Dallmayr is a true Munich institution. The name Dallmayr stands as the epitome of delicatessen of the highest quality, premium coffee and tradition.

The origin of the "specialty store" Dallmayr can be traced back to the year 1700. The company, which has become one of the leading delicatessen houses in Europe, has carried its present name since 1870. Even if the owners changed over time – today Dallmayr is still family owned. Dallmayr became famous with its coffee roastery, which has been operating since 1930.

Anyone stepping into the delicatessen house on Dienerstraße, just a short walk from Marienplatz, for the first time will immediately be overwhelmed by the sheer variety on offer: Dallmayr is so much more than coffee. From exquisite cheeses and fresh fish to fine wines, handcrafted chocolates and international specialities – the range spans around 6,000 products, each with a story of its own. It comes as no surprise that the flagship store attracts around 2.8 million visitors from around the world each year, and has long since become a culinary landmark in its own right.

A coffee experience and more

Then as today, the freshly roasted coffee is sold loose in the store and the desired quantity is packed and weighed individually. The seductive aroma of coffee and the nostalgic ambiance of the store offer a very special shopping experience. Highly recommended are the café and bistro, as well as the two-star restaurant Dallmayr.

From the Platzl Hotel Munich you can reach Dallmayr in just a few minutes. We are also proud to serve Dallmayr coffee specialities at Platzl Hotel Munich.

Dallmayr coffee – now also at Platzl Hotel

Since September 2024, we have been offering our guests two exclusive coffee roasts at our Josefa. One of them is the Tender Blend, with its gentle aroma and a combination of 60% Brazilian and 40% Sumatran beans. Our second roast, the Power Blend, is a little more intense, yet still smooth and sweet. Should you wish to take either roast home with you, they are available exclusively at our Josefa.

The highest quality

Providing you with an unparalleled coffee experience is something we take great pride in. That is why we have completed training sessions with the Dallmayr Academy, where our baristas learned what makes a truly great coffee, how to prepare it to perfection, and how coffee becomes a moment of pure pleasure. Read more in our interview with Phil Semelink, Head of Training at the Dallmayr Academy.

Our recommendation

The best time to visit Dallmayr is right when the doors open at 9:30 a.m. – when the coffee aromas are at their most intense and the store has a calm, unhurried atmosphere. Take your time to stroll through the different departments and let the staff guide you – the passion for quality is evident in every conversation. At Platzl Hotel, we recommend Dallmayr not just as a shopping destination, but as one of those places that truly captures the spirit of Munich.
